I'm not sure when, but one of the last 2-3 updates appears to have removed the "Mastery" staff wrappings and focus/shield inscriptions. Now, instead of receiving drops like "Holy Staff of Mastery" giving me 19% chance of +1 divine favor on my r11 divine favor staff, I receive drops like "Smiting Staff of Earth Magic" giving me 19% chance of +1 earth magic on my r11 smiting staff.

Now, I'll grant that some players might like having the attribute wrappings so that they can use Soul Reaping staves of Curses +1 or Fast Casting staves of Air Magic +1 for those crazy Me/E fastcast air spikers. However, I found mastery wrappings to be a beautiful thing, allowing me to easily find a mod that I can toss on a staff of my liking.

They drop so rarely to begin with, it's impossibly hard to come across a particular Attribute +1 mod that you want. That the mastery mods only allow you to master the attribute of the staff you put it on is something I take as a limit designed into the item: you want that particular bonus? Well, you're going to have to do it with a staff of that attribute.

I would love for mastery mods to be reinstated. What do you think?

Try playing in Nightfall. Prophecies and Factions don't have them yet, they use specific attribute lines per mod.

I've received these strange items in Nightfall as well.

I've noticed this. They haven't been deleted, i know that for sure. My last 6 mods giving +1 stat xx% chance. 5 of them were a specific stat. Only 1 of them was the Mastery mod we all know and love and they ALL came from Nightfall.

I'm fairly certain both types still exist.

Both types always dropped in Nightfall and both still do (i found some a couple days ago).
